Field of David Smith, describes David Smith's process of discovering and exploring nature, applying this element to his works, and finally returning the creations to nature. Through David Smith's sculpture, Australia, I see the woods, the sky, even the winds were cut by the sculpture through its placement back into nature, a tremendous feeling overcame me, and the theme, “Behind the sculpture” came to me, which is the new title of this book.

For my redesign of this book, I sketched Australia on the dust jacket and printed that with transparent paper so that the landscape from the inside cover will be cohesive with the sculpture. To reinforce this, I carved a few hollows on the sketch so that the landscape underneath jumps out clearly, as if readers were walking through the sculpture to see the landscape from different angles.

I used Pitch sans for the body text and handwrote the titles. I use the same strategy for the section breakers as I do for the cover so that readers can see how the sculptures appear in different situations as they turn the page. Rui Yang is responsible for the section breaker photos and the handwritten font.
